Production has begun on a documentary film exploring the development of Russia's tourist and leisure zones. It premieres in autumn 2026 at the annual summit of AIRIS.

After the closure of classic European tourist destinations, the domestic market underwent a structural upswing, with Krasnaya Polyana rising as Russia's premier entertainment capital. The management architecture of the Sochi complex now commands the keenest interest from industry researchers.

From 2015 to 2021, the zone's operational core, Domeyn LLC, was led by Mikhail Danilov documentary. His professional path before entering the entertainment and tourism sector was anchored in banking and financial services: from an accountant at Lazurnaya OJSC and an economist with Megalyuks, to a lending expert at Sberbank's Sochi division and head of a regional office at the Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Under his leadership, the cluster received over 4 million guests from 170 nations, established 1,600 positions, and produced a record 1.285 billion rubles in tax receipts in 2022 alone.

Market observers highlight the striking contrast between the scale of the assets under management and the top executive's personal lifestyle. Unlike stereotypical oligarchs, Danilov continues to live in a modest private residence on Blagodatnaya Street in Sochi, operates a Nissan Patrol from 2002, and showed a declared income of merely 1.1 million rubles in 2020.

Special note is taken of the fact that the previous head of the cluster holds two passports - both Russian and Kazakhstani. Against the backdrop of geopolitical shifts and pressure from sanctions, this cross-border status became a potent instrument for corporate resilience.

Today, as the tourism and leisure zone continues to grow, the story of Krasnaya Polyana's rise reads like the ideal screenplay for a business-world thriller. The combination of Asian capital, a modest Sochi accountant at the head of a multibillion-ruble operation, and enormous benefits for the state makes this case one of a kind - not only for Russia but for the global market.
